Stage 1: Exploring interest
Is this a job application?
No. Registering interest simply starts a conversation. It doesn’t create any obligation on either side.
Do I need to be available full-time?
No. Most associate work is project-based, and many associates work with multiple clients concurrently.
Do you only work with limited companies?
We typically work with independent businesses (including limited companies), but we’re happy to discuss individual circumstances.
Will I be “on the bench” or expected to wait for work?
No. We don’t operate a standing bench or make promises about future work.
Why do you ask about independence so early?
Because clarity protects everyone. We want expectations aligned before any formal engagement.
Stage 2: Setup and readiness
Am I committing to anything by completing Stage 2?
No. This step simply prepares both sides to work together if a suitable project arises.
Why do you ask for company and insurance details?
These are standard details required for business-to-business work and to meet client assurance expectations.
Will you restrict how I work?
No. You remain responsible for how you deliver outcomes, using your own methods and tools.
Can I work with other clients at the same time?
Yes. There is no exclusivity unless explicitly agreed for a specific engagement.
What about IR35?
We structure our engagements to be outcome-led and business-to-business, rather than staff augmentation. Because our associates operate with high levels of autonomy and clear rights of substitution, our project scopes typically align with an ‘outside IR35’ determination. We provide a formal Status Determination Statement (SDS) for every engagement.
Practical requirements
Do I need business insurance in place?
Yes. For most engagements we require, as a minimum: professional indemnity cover of £5,000,000 and public liability cover of £5,000,000 (or equivalent). If you currently hold lower levels (e.g. £1,000,000), we may simply ask you to increase this for the duration of a specific engagement.
What security standards do you require?
Associates are expected to meet a minimum set of outcome-based cyber and data security standards. These are designed to protect client and company information while preserving your independence (i.e., they’re not “employee IT policies”). Where a client requires additional measures for a specific engagement, these are documented in the relevant Statement of Work.
Do I need to be able to provide a substitute?
Yes. As an independent business, you have the right to provide a suitably qualified substitute to deliver the agreed outcomes, subject to any mandatory security or certification requirements. This ensures delivery continuity and reflects the business-to-business nature of our partnership. If substitution is relevant for a specific project, we’ll discuss the practicalities during the scoping phase.
What happens at the end of a project?
Engagements end cleanly:
- Deliverables are handed over.
- Access is removed.
- Data is deleted or returned.
There is no expectation of ongoing work unless a new project is agreed.
Privacy and how we use your information
We use the information you provide only to assess potential fit and manage potential engagements, and retain it in line with our privacy policy.
Next steps
If you’ve read this and it feels aligned, the next step is to register your interest.
Submitting an Expression of Interest:
- Does not commit you to any work.
- Does not create a contractual relationship.
- Helps us understand whether there may be a fit in the future.
If there’s a potential fit, we’ll be in touch to discuss next steps. If not, there’s no obligation on either side.
