Independent expertise, delivered in partnership

We don’t maintain a “bench” of contractors. Instead, we form partnerships project by project, bringing in senior expertise where it improves outcomes for our clients.

If you value autonomy, clarity, and well-run engagements, this model is likely a strong fit for you.

What we mean by an associate

An associate is an independent business we collaborate with to deliver defined work. We treat this as a business-to-business partnership, which means:

  • Professional autonomy. You operate as your own business, with your own working methods.
  • Outcome-led work. Engagements are built around clear deliverables, not just “time on site”.
  • Clean boundaries. Each project has a defined start and end point, no rolling, open-ended commitments.
  • No exclusivity. You remain free to work with other clients at all times, with no obligation beyond what is contractually agreed.

This model works best for senior practitioners who prefer professional boundaries and clear accountability over staff augmentation.

When we collaborate

We involve associates when specialist depth improves quality, reduces risk, or accelerates delivery. Typical engagements include:

  • Audits and strategy. Service and journey audits, experience strategy, and improvement planning in complex environments.
  • Specialist research. Discovery workstreams including planning, delivery, synthesis, and insight communication.
  • Design systems. Governance, standards, experience consistency, and operationalisation.
  • Advisory support. Short-term input to unblock high-impact decisions or stalled work.

We’re looking for specialists who deliver outcomes, not generalists seeking “extra hands” work.

What working with us is like

We aim to be straightforward, fair, and efficient. In practice, that looks like:

  • Clear Statements of Work. Defined deliverables and acceptance criteria from day one.
  • No micromanagement. We trust your expertise and stay out of your way.
  • No consultancy theatre. Direct communication, minimal friction, and clear ownership.
  • Realistic governance. Contracts that reflect how delivery actually happens in the real world.

We put real effort into ensuring engagements are well-run, transparent, and professionally structured.

How engagements typically run

Most partnerships follow a simple four-stage structure:

Scoping. We confirm the work, outcomes, and practical viability.

Contracting. Deliverables, timelines, and responsibilities are documented clearly.

Delivery. Collaborative working with clear ownership and appropriate governance.

Closure. Work ends with a clean handover and formal close of the engagement.
